Sally Livingstone
Sally trained as a pediatric nurse in England, spent many years caring for very sick newborns, and fostering mentally and physically handicapped children before moving to Canada. A resident of North Vancouver, Sally has a passion for babies and currently provides a level-three safe baby home for drug-and-alcohol exposed babies. Watching young women struggle to make it through the first months of motherhood she determined to find a way to help and so Spectrum was formed.
Advisory Board
Illa Bahmanieh
Illa has a Bachelor of Social Work (Uvic) and a Business Management Certificate (BCIT). She is a Registered Social Worker and besides her 10 years experience in Ministry of Children and Family Development, has a private practice in Personal and Relationship Coaching. Illa also has experience in other areas of social work such as community development, transition homes and international adoptions.
Colleen Bonus
Colleen has a degree is Psychology and Child Studies and is ECE trained. She is a certified Infant Massage Instructor. Colleen works with the Infant Development Program in North Vancouver. Through the program she provides in-home consultation to families with children under the age of three who are at risk for, or already have developmental delay, and supervises drop in groups and classes for parents to meet and support each other. She is an Infant Consultant at the Young Mom’s group and consults with the Learning Together program.
Chelsea Crawford
Chelsea is currently on maternity leave from her role as a Public Health Nurse. She has experience working with women facing multiple challenges during their pregnancies and early years of parenting. Through this experience, Chelsea has developed a strong passion to see women and their families reach their full capacity for health and success.
Karen Dunn
Karen graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1987 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She worked in Special Care Nursery and Psychiatry before moving into Public Health. Karen has been working as a Public Health Nurse at North Shore Health since 1996 and has focused her practice on young mothers since 2001, creating the Young Mother and Baby drop-in group at that time. She started teaching prenatal classes to mothers age 24 and under in 2004, and also attends the Learning Together Program at Sutherland High School once a week to offer the girls health education.
Mary Giovanetti
Mary Giovannetti is Chair of the Communications Division at Capilano University where she teaches organizational behaviour and communications courses. She holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instructional Design and an Education degree in business.
Janet MacDonald
Janet is currently the Director of the Capilano University Child Care Center. Over the years she has participated in Early Childhood Classes receiving a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Janet has presented at numerous conferences on the Best Practice in the Early Years, Family Focus Initiative, and showcased our own Centre in Athens, Greece. She has travelled to Italy for a Study Tour on the schools of Reggio Emelia and participated in the coordination of a European-Canadian exchange for Early Childhood Students.
Patt Uren
Patt is a long time resident of North Vancouver who has been working with young children for over 40 years. She currently works as an Early Childhood Educator, parent education speaker and workshop facilitator for parents and future Early Childhood Educators.
